Traditional city planning often overlooks women and diverse experiences, focusing mainly on male perspectives. Shaping HerCity aims to address this by improving urban spaces for everyone through collaborative efforts and positive behavioral change.
The project will implement design changes, like interventions in bars, to boost safety and influence behavior. Our digital platform will connect and support women, fostering a community that enhances urban safety. Our mission is to transform cities into safe, inclusive, and enjoyable spaces that empower women and enhancing their everyday experiences.

Promoting Safety and Inclusivity

Urban environments should be safe and welcoming for everyone, but women and gender-diverse individuals often face unique challenges. This initiative seeks to highlight and promote safe spaces to reduce harassment and violence, and ensure that all individuals can navigate the city with confidence.

Empowering Women and Gender-Diverse Communities

Our research shows that women and gender-diverse individuals depend on networks and mutual support for safety. This project empowers these communities by involving them in creating and promoting safe spaces. Collaboration is central to our approach. Our app supports this with ride-sharing, journey companion features, user connections, and safe space advice.

Our project seeks to influence behavior in urban environments and within the entertainment sector, including bars, nightclubs, and dining establishments.
